Learning & Development Manager

Location: Crewe, UK - Onsite (with some opportunity for global travel)

Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum

Job Profile

As a Learning and Development Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and delivering our established learning and development programmes and systems to ensure they continue to support our business goals and plans. You will oversee the ongoing management of L&D processes, ensuring training content, platforms, and initiatives remain current, effective, and impactful for employees at all levels.

You will work closely with leaders and stakeholders to monitor learning outcomes, assess development needs, and continuously improve our existing programs and systems. You will also support managers and employees through guidance, coaching, and the promotion of a culture of continuous learning.

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in learning and development operations, with proven experience in managing and optimising learning tools and technologies. You should bring excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills, along with the ability to think commercially and manage vendor partnerships effectively. A passion for learning, a data-driven mindset, and an interest in emerging L&D trends will help you ensure our people development approach remains relevant and impactful.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain, optimise, and continuously improve learning strategies, programs, and systems to ensure alignment with business objectives, talent priorities, and organisational capability needs, driving measurable improvements in employee performance / engagement.
  • Design and deliver impactful training programmes, workshops, and e-learning modules using established learning methods and systems (e.g. LMS, digital learning tools).
  • Support the implementation and delivery of global learning and development initiatives, ensuring consistency, scalability, and cultural alignment across regions.
  • Deliver high-quality leadership development programs that strengthen capability, foster inclusive leadership, and support the organisation's succession and talent pipelines.
  • Ensure robust governance and delivery of the risk and compliance training schedule, maintaining full adherence to organisational and regulatory standards, including FCA regulation.
  • Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to identify skills gaps, development priorities, and growth opportunities, ensuring learning solutions directly enable business performance.
  • Identify opportunities to utilise the apprenticeship levy and other funding schemes, maximising investment in workforce development and skills growth.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local schools, colleges, and other educational institutions to support work experience, apprenticeships, and initiatives that bridge the gap between education and employment.
  • Manage the L&D budget effectively, ensuring optimal use of resources, cost efficiency, and demonstrable return on investment.
  • Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of learning interventions, reporting on participation, engagement, and performance outcomes.
  • Ensure all L&D content, systems, and processes remain current with best practice, compliance requirements, and emerging technologies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, consultants, and internal L&D specialists, ensuring quality and consistency across all learning initiatives.
  • Uphold Likewize's data protection and information security policies, maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of employee and business information.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in learning and development, preferably in a digital or technology-related industry.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering various learning methods and solutions, such as training workshops, e-learning, coaching, mentoring, simulation, etc.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (ideally Cornerstone), authoring tools (ideally Articulate), and evaluation methods.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and learning styles.
  • Strong project management, organisational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a proactive and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Passionate about learning & development and committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
