Job Summary

Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital is seeking an experienced and Charity Shop Manager to oversee the daily operations of our charity shop in Bognor Regis. The position is 5 days a week opening the shop between 09:30 and 16:30 each day. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service as well as experiance with sorting donated stock and gift aid. This role requires effective management of staff, inventory, and sales strategies to ensure a thriving retail environment.

Duties

  • Supervise and lead a team of volunteers, fostering a positive and productive work atmosphere.
  • Manage daily shop operations, including sorting and rotating stock, merchandising, and sales management.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to meet and exceed store targets.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service by training staff in communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • Organise staff schedules, ensuring optimal coverage during peak hours while managing time efficiently.
  • Oversee administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting, and record-keeping to ensure smooth operations.
  • Utilise organisational skills to maintain an orderly shop environment that enhances the shopping experience for customers.
  • Create eye-catching window displays.
  • Engage with customers to build relationships, resolve issues, and enhance overall satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in retail management or supervisory roles is essential.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual or bilingual abilities are highly desirable.
  • Experience in merchandising and understanding of retail trends is advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in time management to prioritise tasks effectively within a fast-paced environment.
