Freelance Book Keeper

Salary: £15 per hour

Self employed book keeper

Part-time role - 1-2 days per week.

Hours: To suit between 6.30am-6pm

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will be responsible for providing efficient and accurate finance and administrative support to the group of businesses including:

  • Process purchase and sales ledger transactions including credit control and aged debt.
  • Bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations including journals.
  • Manage business overheads and suppliers.
  • Anaylse job costs to assist with business service rates.
  • Be responsible for the month-end and year-end close activities.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Quarterly VAT returns and HMRC submissions related to P11ds, P46 and tax calculations.
  • Liaise with HMRC and external accountants.
  • Be responsible for all payroll instructions and ensure preparation in time for the weekly and monthly payroll run.
  • Assist with payroll queries and provide reports as needed.
  • Liaise with HMRC and pension providers regarding submissions and compliance
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with GDPR and payroll legislation.
  • Manage all HR pay & benefits related functions including holidays.
  • Ensure accurate HR records on all employees as well as assist with HR project work as required.
  • Manage company fleet of vehicles including maintenance, mileage, servicing and company policy.

Skills required:

  • At least 5 years' experience within a similar role.
  • AAT qualified or equivalent.
  • The ability to manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, organisational skills and a key attention to detail.
  • Previous experience with Sage 50 Accounts essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to use own initiative and take ownership of workload.
  • Discrete and professional with the ability to understand the sensitivity of information they will be exposed to.
  • Approachable, confident, comfortable being challenged and able to stand your ground when required.
  • Understanding of PAYE, NI, CIS and statutory deductions.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £15.00-£25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 16 per week
