At Red Squirrel Nursery, Glendoick, we believe children thrive when they can connect with nature and explore the world around them. Set in the beautiful Perthshire countryside, our nursery blends indoor learning with abundant outdoor opportunities.

Our Forest Camp is at the heart of what we do: a woodland setting just outside nursery grounds where children climb trees, build dens, explore the wildlife, use mud kitchens, and more.

We're looking for someone passionate about early years, who loves being outdoors as much as indoors, and who is committed to delivering warm, creative, high quality learning for children aged 3-5.

Role & Responsibilities

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate high quality learning experiences in both indoor and outdoor environments
  • Support children across all age groups with appropriate care, play and learning
  • Use our Forest Camp and garden areas to extend the children's experiences
  • Be a key person to a group of children — observing, recording, and supporting development
  • Foster children's curiosity, independence, confidence and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external services
  • Help maintain safety, risk assessments and good practice outdoors
  • Participate in ongoing professional development (particularly in outdoor / nature-based practice)

Person Specification / Requirements

  • Qualified to at least SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Early Learning & Childcare / Early Years
  • Love of the outdoors and confidence delivering learning in natural settingsExperience or training in Forest School / nature-based learning
  • Knowledge of current practice in early years outdoor education
  • Good communication skills and ability to build relationships with children, families & colleagues
  • Ability to lead or support special projects (e.g. gardening, eco initiatives)
  • Reliable, flexible, committed to high standards of care & learning
  • Enthusiasm for professional development and reflective practice

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £26,665.00-£26,800.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
