Do you have a strong background in consumer PR and are looking for an exciting opportunity to join the PR team for one of the UK's biggest supermarkets? 

This role focuses on the development and execution of Asda's consumer press office plan and includes the development of campaigns which effectively communicate Asda's unmatchable mix and showcase Asda's commitment to supporting hardworking families across the UK.

Key responsibilities

· Management of the day-to-day running of the consumer press office plan, identifying stories and building relationships with key categories across the business to ensure we're always pushing our most compelling messages.

· Building relationships and engaging with key media on a daily basis to land stories.

· In addition, support the Senior PR Manager in developing and implementing a calendar of PR campaigns that successfully communicate key messages around Asda's unmatchable mix – key products and services - in earned media, and in line with Asda's overall reputation and values. ​

· Lead on the management and execution of Asda's wine PR, including two seasonal wine events targeting key critics and influencers. Knowledge of wine media is preferential.

· Alongside the team, responsible for the day-to-day management of our retained consumer PR agency to ensure activity is clearly briefed, developed and executed.

· Responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure awareness of new products and services.

· Ability to oversee photography shoots – both food and drink and campaign related.

· Focus on news jacking and inserting Asda into popular culture, where relevant for the brand.

· From time to time, provide out-of-hours on call services for the PR team and wider business. ​

· Identify new and innovative ways of landing or measuring PR campaigns – taking the opportunity to push boundaries and challenge thinking. ​

Essential skills and experience

· Minimum 5 years PR experience in consumer PR – ideally with experience in retail/food and drink.

· Enviable journalist contacts and knowledge of the media landscape, including wine media.​

· Confident in identifying, developing and implementing creative PR stories and campaigns that deliver impactful results​., both proactively and reactively (newsjacking)

· Experience managing/overseeing events is desirable.

· Experience managing product photo shoots is desirable.
