Eastleigh Borough Council has a large commercial portfolio, with aspirations to grow and develop this to generate additional income. To help us achieve our ambitious strategy, we are looking for a commercially focused and detail orientated Surveying Technician to join our team.

The role

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a professional, efficient, and customer-focused asset management service. Working across the Council's diverse commercial property portfolio, you will assist with estate management whilst also supporting the delivery of wider council policy objectives to maximise income whilst delivering cost-effective services.

Your activities will include:

  • Responding to detailed queries from the public, colleagues and councillors regarding assets and estates

  • Administration of the Council's land enquiries process and Freedom of Information responses

  • Conducting site inspections to support Asset Managers

  • Maintaining the Energy Performance Certificate register (EPC)

  • Managing licences for garages, gardens, events, and access

  • Assisting with vacant property management and liaising with contractors

  • Supporting commercialisation opportunities across the Council's estate, such as concessions and advertising

  • Supporting the development of a fit-for-purpose property database system

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least 2–3 years' financial administrative experience, ideally in a property or legal related environment

  • A good understanding of property interests, management processes, and relevant documentation

  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work in line with deadlines, adaptability, and initiative

  • Excellent communication skills to build effective relationships with customers, colleagues, and councillors

  • Good IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly

  • Educated to NVQ Level 3 / A Level standard or equivalent experience

Please note due to the nature of the role we will require the successful application to hold a Full UK Driving Licence as some travel will be required within the local areas, a Basic DBS check and be available to work at Eastleigh House one day per week (Tuesdays) in line with team expectation.
