We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual to join the South Caerphilly Community Mental Health Team.
This post is perfect for applicants with a strong background in administration, looking to step up into a secretarial role. We are committed to providing the training and support required to make the right candidate a success and integrate into our team.
The role is fast paced, varied and involves taking a lead in providing comprehensive secretarial/PA support to our consultants and their teams.
The role of medical secretary also requires excellent communication skills, engaging with our patients and assisting with their queries and concerns, liaising with the wider clinical networks and Multidisciplinary Teams.
Applicants need to be proficient at typing and have a working experience of digital dictation, with recent secretarial/administrative experience. Knowledge of medical vocabulary is an advantage, although not essential.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
To provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultant Psychiatrist and wider medical team.
Works independently to defined policies and procedures and manages own workload.
The post holder will be primarily based at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr and will support the inpatient Consultant, and staff grades, alongside supporting both the North and South Caerphilly CMHTs.
The post holder will be expected to travel between sites where required.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant secretarial experience, preferably within an NHS or healthcare environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RSA Level III or equivalent level/ability of keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
- Medical Secretary qualifications, including terminology
Aptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good knowledge of IT & Windows applications.
Desirable criteria
- Epex/WCCIS literate or have an understanding of databases.
- Ability to speak Welsh
