Key Position Details:

  • Responsibilities will include purchasing, merchandising, and reporting for the United Hospital Gift Shop
  • 0.5 FTE (40 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 10:30am-5pm 3 days one week, 3 days the other week, 12-4pm every other Sunday
  • Every other weekend rotation

Job Description:

Serves as the gift shop's leader who is responsible for coordinating merchandising themes and displays, monitoring inventory and ordering and assisting in the hiring and training process. Manages the shop's accounts by overseeing the daily account balance and making bank deposits.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Daily operation.

    • Maintains shop appearance, by ensuring it's cleanliness and organization.

    • Stocks and rotates merchandise so products are easily accessible to customers, and displays are appealing.

    • Ensures storage areas are free from clutter and obstacles.

    • Conducts shop promotions as needed.

    • Supports gifts shop volunteer and/or staff.

    • Assists with training of staff/volunteers.

  • Accounting functions.

    • Ensures merchandise is accounted for against invoices.

    • Performs random pricing checks to ensure merchandise has been correctly priced.

    • Solves identified balancing problems.

    • Authorizes the payment of bills ensuring vendors are paid on time.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • 2+ years merchandising/retail experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Gift shop experience

Physical Demands

  • Medium Work:
  • Lifting weight up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.09 to $24.64 per hourThe pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
