Are you an experienced credit professional with a strong background in bridging and development finance? This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing short-term property finance lender as Head of Credit, leading the credit function, shaping the future risk, and lending strategy.

This hands-on leadership role will see you reviewing and approving new lending proposals, developing credit policy, and building a small team of underwriters as the business continues to expand. You'll play a key part in balancing commercial growth with prudent risk management, ensuring lending decisions are both robust and commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, assess, and approve lending proposals within delegated authority.
  • Provide guidance on loan structuring, security, and risk mitigation.
  • Develop and maintain credit policies and underwriting frameworks.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend strategic adjustments.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor junior credit underwriters.
  • Collaborate closely with Relationship Managers and Business Development Managers to align commercial and credit objectives.
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on credit quality and risk trends.

About You

  • Strong experience in bridging finance underwriting and credit risk, with exposure to development finance.
  • Background in banking or property lending, with deep knowledge of secured lending and property valuation.
  • Proven ability to make clear, balanced credit decisions.
  • Experience managing or developing a small credit or underwriting team (preferred)
  • Commercially aware, analytical, and decisive, with excellent communication skills.
  • Confident operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
