As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Global Technology Asset Management, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, deliver and operate firmwide solutions. Promote significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Demonstrates and champions site reliability culture and practices and exerts technical influence throughout the team
  • Leads initiatives to improve the reliability, stability and security of the team's applications and platforms using data-driven analytics to improve service levels
  • Collaborates with team members to identify comprehensive service level indicators and stakeholders to establish reasonable service level objectives and error budgets with customers
  • Demonstrates a high level of technical expertise within one or more technical domains and proactively identifies and solves technology-related bottlenecks in your areas of expertise
  • Acts as the main point of contact during major incidents for your application and demonstrates the skills to identify and solve issues quickly to minimise impact.
  • Documents and shares knowledge within the organisation via internal forums and communities of practice
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on Engineering concepts and proficient advanced experience
  • Deep proficiency in reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise system architecture, toil reduction, and other site reliability best practices with the ability to implement these practices within an application or platform
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in observability such as white and black box monitoring, SLO alerting, and telemetry collection using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace and Splunk
  • Excellent knowledge of key cryptographic primitives and secure key management from storage to rotation
  • Deep knowledge of software applications and technical processes with emerging depth in one or more technical disciplines
  • Good knowledge in continuous integration and continuous delivery tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket, Terraform etc.)
  • Good knowledge with container and container orchestration (e.g., ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Fluency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., Python)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Practical experience of designing, deploying and performance tuning applications on cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS)
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Knowledge and experience with Data Lakehouse Platforms (e.g. Databricks) and database querying languages
