With a commitment to exceptional service and machine reliability, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Plant Diesel Fitter to join our workshop team and help maintain our fleet of plant and equipment.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Plant Fitter to take on responsibility for the service, maintenance, and repair of our diverse fleet of plant and construction machinery. The successful candidate will be based at our Wirral depot and will play a crucial role in ensuring our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for hire.

The role involves working on a variety of machinery, including excavators (1 to 20 tonnes), dumpers, telehandlers, rollers, and small tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Accurately diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults in a wide range of plant machinery.
• Servicing & Maintenance: Conduct routine servicing, planned maintenance, and pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) in line with manufacturer specifications and company schedules.
• Repairs: Carry out all necessary repairs, from minor adjustments to major component overhauls, including engine, transmission, and hydraulic systems.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work carried out, including service logs and job sheets.
• Health & Safety: Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations within the workshop and yard, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
• Parts Management: Assist in identifying and ordering necessary spare parts to ensure efficient repairs.
• Workshop Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organised, and professional workshop environment.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Plant Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, or HGV Fitter.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• A relevant qualification in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3).
• A full UK driving licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team.
• Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.

Desirable:

• Experience working with leading plant brands such as JCB, Kubota, Thwaites, and Manitou.
• Welding and fabrication skills.

What We Offer:

• £28,000-£34,000, negotiable based on experience.
• 40 hours a week
• Flexible working hours: anytime between 07:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
• Opportunity for overtime.
