Staffing in the Hillingdon Urgent Care Team includes– consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist (1.0 WTE) which is this post, team lead (1.0), clinical nurse specialist (3.0), assistant psychologist (1.0) and an administrator (1.0).
The Urgent Care Team provides assessments at the Emergency Department and to the paediatric ward and medical wards (for 16- and 17-year olds) at Hillingdon Hospital as well as 7 day follow up appointments for Hillingdon patients discharged from acute hospitals. On average the team sees 30 new cases/month. They are seen by the clinical nurse specialists (or another mental health professional) and discussed with the team at the first instance and, if required, discussed with the consultant psychiatrist. The cases are currently not kept on the caseload but either transferred to another team/service for further input or discharged to primary care. Once the urgent care outreach service (UCOS for crisis work) is developed, it is expected that the team will carry a maximum caseload of 10 active cases at any one time.
The direct clinical care consultant caseload is expected to vary between 10-20 cases, combined between liaison and crisis aspects of the service. However, the consultant is not expected to provide direct case management.
"Central and North West London (CNWL) specialises in caring for people with a wide range of mental and physical health needs and is one of the largest mental health trusts in England. Each CAMHS service has its own local management structure: HIllingdon CAMHS has a Lead Psychiatrist, Therapies lead and team manager who work closely with the outer boroughs service manager.
Hillingdon UCT team lead will work closely with the UCT consultant (this post) and UCT service manager. Hillingdon UCT is also linked with Brent & Harrow UCT and Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster UCT and the postholder will be part of the UCT Senior Management Team lead by the UCT clinical lead and service manager.
