About the role
Join our Asset and Technology Solutions team as an Equipment Technician based in Derby. You'll be part of a flexible, specialist team responsible for ensuring customer requests are processed accurately, equipment is maintained to the highest standards, and all operations run smoothly and safely. Reporting to the Team Leader, you'll play a key role in delivering an effective and efficient service, maintaining a tidy and safe working environment, and upholding our company values of integrity, teamwork, excellence, and respect.
What you'll be doing
Your accountabilities will be as follows:
- Supporting Team Leaders in the day-to-day running of the department.
- Providing excellent customer service through accurate stock control and efficient administration.
- Participating in annual stock takes and maintaining attention to detail.
- Working across key areas: goods in, goods out, office/admin, and maintenance.
- Completing paperwork clearly and accurately.
- Processing requisitions within 24 hours, ensuring correct approvals and forms.
- Inputting data to requisition trackers and communicating delivery/return notes.
- Inspecting equipment sent to and from sites/suppliers for quality, quantity, and condition.
- Carrying out equipment testing, calibration, and inspection as required.
- Correctly identifying, storing, and picking items.
- Packing and preparing equipment for transport, loading/unloading delivery vehicles.
- Ensuring stores despatch, goods receive, and quarantine areas are used appropriately.
- Conducting thorough inspections on equipment, including lifting and specialist equipment in line with LOLER and PUWER regulations.
- Maintaining compliance with Company Safety Rules, Health & Safety Legislation, and Environmental Standards.
- Reporting unsafe practices and maintaining a proactive approach to tidiness.
- Supporting other areas of the department as needed.
Who we're looking for
Essential:
- Experience working as part of a team in a stores environment.
- Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Flexible approach to working hours and activities (occasional site work required).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management and punctuality.
Desirable:
- Experience examining and servicing equipment used in the overhead line industry.
- Good IT skills (especially Microsoft packages).
- Valid forklift and telehandler operator certificates.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience in customer interaction.
- Knowledge and experience of lifting equipment and maintenance (e.g., Pullifts, Tirfors).
- LEEA Part 1 & 2 qualification.
