About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Project Communications Officer (Internal) to join our Lower Thames Crossing project based in Grays.

Within this role you'll play a crucial role in engaging and managing relationships with internal stakeholders on the Lower Thames Crossing Project. You'll be responsible for delivering effective employee communication and engagement activities to educate and reinforce key messages, drive operational productivity and embed a 'one team' approach within the project team.

What you'll be doing

As a Project Communications Officer (Internal) you'll:

  • Support delivery of effective and engaging internal communications, events and engagement activities within the project team to help embed a 'one team' approach, aligning programme narrative and corporate strategic themes so messaging is timely and easily understood
  • Manage project communication channels and coordinate a regular calendar of activity, ensuring everything is on brand and in line with company brand guidelines
  • Ensure project communication channels, tools and platforms are regularly reviewed and updated with appropriate content – including SharePoint site, digital totems, distribution lists, presentation packs etc
  • Write internal and external award submissions and case studies to promote our people and project
  • Arrange for the clearance of subcontractors' photographs and news releases, handle requests for filming and photography sessions.
  • Work closely with National Highways and Balfour Beatty Group communication teams to talk positively about project successes and key milestones, sharing content and case studies that can be published across corporate internal, external and social media channels
  • Ensure project site(s) hoarding and information boards comply with Balfour Beatty or Joint Venture brand guidelines

Who we're looking for

You will have / be:

Essential:

  • Experience in marketing, public relations, communications or a related field
  • Confident engaging with external stakeholders face-to-face
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills
  • A proactive, collaborative attitude and willingness to engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Able to interpret technical information from a variety of sources and translate into simple and engaging written communications
  • Team player who adapts positively to changing stakeholder demands
  • A self-starter with strong organisation skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office365 applications

Desirable:

  • A higher education/industry recognised qualification in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related field
  • Member of CIPR, IOIC, CIM or other recognised industry body
  • Experience of using graphics and or video editing software
  • Experience of working on construction/civil engineering infrastructure projects
  • Good understanding of the regulatory environment in construction/rail/utility industries
