Data Quality Lead
Permanent
London / Hybrid
At QBE, our purpose is to
enable a more resilient future.
We are an international insurer and reinsurer with a local presence in 27 countries.
The opportunity
QBE EO has embarked on a journey of growth in Data and Analytics through the implementation of Collibra for Data Governance and Ataccama for Data Quality. These applications are helping us implement and automate key Data Management activities, ensuring data is catalogued, Data Lineage is captured consistently, Data Quality is measured, DQ Issues are investigated, and Master & Reference Data is managed.
We're looking for an experienced Data Quality Lead to join our Data Quality team within the Data Centre of Excellence function in our London office.
Your New Role
In this role, you'll take ownership of the Finance Adjustments Governance process, enhancing it in alignment with other finance and Data Quality processes. You'll also contribute towards developing and embedding Data Management capabilities, ensuring high standards of Data Quality.
Main Responsibilities:
Adjustment Specific:
- Lead the governance of Adjustments, developing an appropriate framework and structure to effective control and manage the process.
- Provide governance over the changes (Adjustment) that are required in data flowing between our finance and actuarial systems.
- Manage the month-end Adjustment process as it transitions from Finance to the Data Excellence team. Analyse the process to identify and implement improvements.
- Work closely with business and technical teams, including reserving managers, financial controllers, and system owners to document and resolve Adjustment issues.
- Where possible, remove manual intervention in the Adjustments process using tools, such as Ataccama and Collibra.
- Ensure the Adjustment process aligns with existing Data Quality processes and enforce best practices for tracking and raising Adjustments and issues.
- Chair the monthly Adjustments Working Group (AWG), refining Terms of Reference, and ensuring appropriate representation.
- Ensure that communication of Adjustments is clear and that affected stakeholders are fully aware implications of changes.
Data Quality (DQ) Generic:
- Support the implementation of QBE EO's DQ Strategy, covering the identification, assessment, management, and identification of DQ Issues throughout the data lifecycle.
- Define and embed DQ Rules in Ataccama associated with the Business Rules in Collibra. This includes defining thresholds with the business; implementing the (technical) DQ Rules in Ataccama and run them in the appropriate source, linked to the frequency defined with the business; performing data profiling and analysis to identify DQ Issues; as well as reviewing the creating and maintaining documentation for data integration processes and workflows.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members, and training and support to end-users.
- Support the DQ Manager and the DQ Team across all DQ activities.
About You
- Prior experience within the Financial or Insurance industry (preferred), in particular dealing with Finance and Actuarial data.
- Leverage your understanding of core finance and actuarial concepts to interpret and analyse reconciliation results.
- Experience with Data Quality and Data Governance tools (Ataccama and Collibra preferred, respectively).
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of Data Quality best practices.
- Demonstrate prior experience in autonomously leading DQ activities, such as DQ Rule definition, data profiling and DQ Issue Management.
- Knowledge and understanding of Data Management frameworks like DAMA and DCAM.
- Leverage Excel, Python, SQL, Jira and ServiceNow to enhance data handling and process efficiency.
- Working with Microsoft BI solutions (including SQL Server).
- Drive initiatives for process improvement and automation, optimising workflows and increasing productivity.
- Ability to effectively use complex analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving techniques.
- Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, through effective verbal and written communication.
