In a nutshell

Supporting our customers with installations, maintenance, and breakdowns across our machine portfolio. Part of the South Region covering (Swindon, Oxford, Reading and surrounding areas).

The Service Department is a trusted partner to customers worldwide. We focus on understanding their priorities and delivering high-quality technical solutions that keep their operations running smoothly. Our dedicated team is committed to providing an outstanding customer experience and driving long-term success for our clients.

What you will be doing

Installation

  • Install, commission, and hand over Bystronic machines at customer sites.
  • Assemble electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
  • Support machine set-up at exhibitions and fairs.

Breakdowns

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Carry out troubleshooting on electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Maintenance

  • Perform routine servicing and repairs at customer locations.
  • Conduct CNC/PLC software updates and confirm successful implementation.

Machine Operation & Customer Support

  • Deliver safety, maintenance, and operator training to customers.
  • Assist with physical tasks such as equipment loading/unloading.
  • Provide technical advice when required.

Other Responsibilities

  • Complete service reports, feedback forms, CRM updates, and installation documentation.
  • Follow ISO-based quality processes and contribute to improvements.
  • Request and manage spare parts.
  • Support sales and service teams with technical insights.
  • Manage and track quality complaints.
  • Carry out any additional local responsibilities as needed.

Your education & experience

  • Technical school, apprenticeship, college, or bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in maintenance, installation, or field service (preferred).
  • Solid ability to read, understand, and work from electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Basic CNC/PLC and drive system knowledge; ability to perform software updates.

What else you can bring to the table

  • Flexibility to travel extensively (approx. 100%).
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends when required.
  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Demonstrable field experience with high-voltage or high-pressure systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
