Summary

Preston North End Community and Education Trust (PNECET) seeks a Health and Wellbeing Coordinator to lead, develop, and coordinate the delivery of health and wellbeing programmes across Preston and the surrounding area.

This role supports PNECET, focusing on tackling health inequalities, creating new partnerships, and strengthening existing relationships with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will line manage and mentor Health and Wellbeing Coaches, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and impactful programmes that empower individuals and communities to live healthier and happier lives.

Based at Deepdale, the home of Preston North End FC, this is a full-time position offering a salary of £25,000 - £27,500, depending on experience.

Benefits include a laptop, pension scheme, up to 35 days of annual leave, and two PNEFC season cards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and support the delivery of health and wellbeing programmes, including:
  • Adults and Family Healthy Weight Programme
  • Cancer Prehabilitation (Prehab) Programme
  • Creating Connections (for people living with dementia and their carers)
  • Sporting Memories
  • Walking Football (including Parkinson's sessions)
  • Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) Programme
  • New initiatives developed in line with PNECET's strategic priorities
  • Manage and mentor Health and Wellbeing Coaches to deliver innovative, engaging, and evidence-based sessions.
  • Promote, recruit, and retain participants across all programmes to ensure achievement of contractual targets and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and deliver physical activity sessions, interventions, and workshops that promote sustainable lifestyle change.
  • Work with local partners and health professionals to identify community needs and develop responsive, targeted programmes.
  • Produce accurate monitoring reports and evidence outcomes for funders, commissioners, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with PNECET's strategic objectives, quality standards, and funding requirements.
  • Represent PNECET at community meetings, health forums, and partnership events.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant field (Health, Sport, Exercise, Public Health, or related discipline) – essential
  • Level 2/3 Fitness or Personal Training qualification – desirable
  • Proven experience in coordinating or managing community health or wellbeing programmes – essential
  • Experience line managing or mentoring staff – essential
  • Experience of partnership working within public health, local authority, or community settings – essential
  • Strong understanding of health inequalities, behaviour change, and community engagement – essential
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills – essential
  • Experience in report writing, monitoring, and evaluation – essential
  • Knowledge of local health structures, including NHS, ICBs, and local councils – desirable
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends – essential
