What you'll be doing:

The Data Engineer will play a key role in building Bazaar Group's future data capability. Working within the data team and alongside key stakeholders, you will help develop a modern data platform that connects systems, improves data quality, and enables smarter decision-making across the business. You will gain experience across data warehousing, e-commerce integrations, and business intelligence, with support to develop your skills and progress in the role. This is an exciting opportunity to shape how data is used at Bazaar as we strengthen our analytics and reporting foundations.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Integration:

  • Support the setup and maintenance of integrations across sales channels and core systems
  • Monitor the health of data flows and address issues appropriately
  • Act as a technical liaison for third-party support queries, particularly where they intersect with data quality or structure
  • Use source control tools (e.g. Git/GitHub) to manage scripts, pipeline configurations, and version history

Support for Issues

  • Act as 2nd-line support for data-related issues, with 1st-line triage handled by IT
  • Investigate and resolve data pipeline or integration errors, escalating to third parties where required
  • Document recurring issues and propose long-term fixes to reduce firefighting
  • Liaise with third-party providers (e.g. Patchworks, cloud/data platform vendors) to troubleshoot data issues, coordinate onboarding of new sources, and validate fixes

Data Infrastructure

  • Maintain and manage the central data warehouse (platform TBD: likely Fabric)
  • Support onboarding of new data sources into the warehouse (possibly with guidance from third parties)
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and warehouse connections
  • Carry out regular data quality checks and implement best-practice data governance
  • Assist with future projects that involve data-related tool implementation, particularly focusing on data transfers and mapping e.g. implementation of a PIM

Reporting Support

  • Collaborate with the Data & Insights Manager to ensure reliable data access for reporting and Power BI dashboards
  • Assist with data modelling and performance optimisation for the development of solutions for reporting use cases

Data Governance & Security

  • Ensure consistent data definitions, documentation, and lineage across systems
  • Maintain data dictionaries and SOPs for core data flows
  • Maintain data flow schemas

Person Specification

Must:

  • Have experience or strong interest in data engineering or analytics within an e-commerce, retail, or operational environment
  • Have experience with data integration concepts (ETL, APIs, system mappings)
  • Have experience in configuration of data tools and workflows without heavy coding. Some coding will be required, but it's not extensive
  • Be familiar with SQL for the extraction of data

Nice to Haves:

  • Awareness of ERP or e-commerce systems (Khaos, Shopify, Patchworks, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Power Automate and PowerShell or similar tools
  • Understanding of data warehouse principles
