About the Role

Techxi is seeking caring, reliable, and professional individuals to join our team as Private Hire Drivers. This is a truly rewarding role, transporting children and adults with additional needs and vulnerabilities safely to and from school, college, day centres, and other learning environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport passengers with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and other vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain a friendly, respectful and professional approach at all times with passengers, staff, and partners.
  • Ensure your vehicle remains clean, hygienic, roadworthy and well-presented.
  • Commit to morning and afternoon shifts, Monday to Friday, during term time.
  • Optional: Additional overtime shifts can be available in the midday, evenings, weekends and outside of school term as well.

What You'll Need

  • Valid UK Driving Licence, held for at least 1 year.
  • Enhanced DBS Check & Group 2 Medical: Paid for by Techxi. (Candidates must keep their DBS on the update service at £16/year.)
  • Willingness to Attend Training: One-day Private Hire Licence course in Wolverhampton. Subsidised transport available if enough requests are received. Next course: 10th December 2025, with intended start date Spring 2026 (Subject to passing subsequent checks).
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Ability to park a company vehicle at or near your home.
  • Aged 23 to 75 (for insurance purposes).

Contract Details

  • Job Type: Part-time, Permanent
  • Base rate: £12.21 per hour
  • Total hourly rate including rolled-up holiday pay (12.07%): £13.68
  • Holiday pay will appear as a separate line on your payslip for full transparency.
  • Hours: 20–30 per week, based on allocated school routes (confirmed prior to onboarding), with additional overtime available on evenings, weekends and outside of school term.

Application Process

  • Confirm your availability to work 20–30 hours per week, and state if you are interested in overtime (evenings, weekends and during school holidays).
  • Attend the 1-day training course in Wolverhampton.
  • Complete your Group 2 medical appointment.
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check.
  • Application submitted to the Council for licensing.
  • Collect your Private Hire Licence from Wolverhampton Licensing Office once ready.
