Overview

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Early Years Quality & Childcare Leader to lead our nursery team and ensure the highest standards of care, education, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring that all children receive rich learning experiences in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Management

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Early Years Practitioners to deliver outstanding childcare and education.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that promotes teamwork, professional growth, and staff wellbeing.
  • Conduct regular supervision, appraisals, and training to maintain high performance and staff development.

Curriculum and Learning

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
  • Ensure activities are child-centred, inclusive, and support each child's individual development.
  • Monitor learning outcomes and track children's progress to maintain high standards of early education.

Safeguarding and Compliance

  • Ensure the nursery meets all Ofsted and EYFS statutory requirements, maintaining accurate records and policies.
  • Take the lead on safeguarding and child protection, ensuring all staff adhere to relevant legislation and procedures.
  • Maintain robust health, safety, and hygiene practices in line with regulations.

Parent and Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, carers, and the wider community.
  • Communicate effectively with families through meetings, reports, and digital platforms.
  • Promote the nursery through open days, local partnerships, and marketing initiatives.

Operational Management

  • Manage nursery budgets, occupancy levels, and staffing to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, and retention of high-quality staff.
  • Implement quality improvement plans and prepare for inspections or audits.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a nursery management or senior leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and Ofsted requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  • A clear enhanced DBS check and sound understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.

Desirable:

  • Level 5 or above in Early Years Leadership or Management.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification.
  • Experience in managing budgets and business operations within an early years setting.
