Education Welfare Officer/Attendance Manager (maternity cover)

Salary: £33,699 to £36,363.

Hours: 37 hours per week.

Start Date: 23 February 2026

Outwood Grange Academy are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our attendance strategy and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive. This pivotal role requires a confident leader who can effectively implement policy, manage a small team, and provide targeted support to students and families facing attendance challenges.

This is a senior and hands-on role requiring a strong balance of leadership, data analysis, and direct casework intervention, including conducting home visits and managing legal processes. The successful candidate will support children whose education is at risk and help families to improve their children's access to learning and enable all children and young people to maximise their educational opportunities, especially those vulnerable groups that may need additional support. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, be organised, energetic and able to remain calm in a busy environment. Strong IT skills specifically in Microsoft Office and Google are essential. 

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Thursday, 08:00am until 04:00pm, and 08:00am until 03:30pm on Fridays. This is a full year position with annual leave entitlement. As this is a maternity cover, the end date of this role will be the 27 November 2026 or when the employee returns to work.
