Uttoxeter ST, United Kingdom Highwood Motorhomes Ltd Full time

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Vehicle Technician to join the team at Highwood Motorhomes Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the mechanical systems of a wide range of motorhomes, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background, a passion for vehicle technology, and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship. You will work with a variety of tools and equipment, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of motorhome servicing, maintenance, and mechanical repair.

At Highwood Motorhomes Ltd, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, family-run business where every team member is valued. This role offers a supportive and engaging environment for skilled mechanics who want to grow their expertise while delivering high-quality service.

We are committed to continuing professional development and ensure all staff have access to regular, fully supported training courses to stay up to date with the latest industry standards and technologies.

If you're motivated, take pride in your work, and want to be part of a friendly, forward-thinking team where your skills and development truly matter, we would love to hear from you.

Duties

  • Carry out thorough mechanical inspections on motorhomes to identify faults, using diagnostic equipment, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Perform a wide range of mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks, including work on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension components, exhaust systems, and general vehicle running gear.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical issues accurately and efficiently, ensuring repairs are completed to a high standard.
  • Conduct routine servicing, fluid changes, and component replacements to keep motorhomes operating safely and reliably.
  • Test and verify repairs through road tests and system checks to confirm optimal performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work carried out, ensuring clear communication with the wider Highwood Motorhomes team.

Requirements

  • Proven mechanical expertise with a minimum of 3 years' experience working as a vehicle mechanic, including diagnostics and repair processes.
  • Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, technical diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Hands-on experience using a full range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment, including welding tools and assembly processes.
  • Thorough understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures, best practices, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to carry out heavy lifting and physical tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication abilities, with confidence in discussing mechanical issues clearly and professionally.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.
  • Prior experience in automotive repair or equipment maintenance is essential; motorhome experience is beneficial but not required.

At Highwood Motorhomes, you'll be joining a genuinely welcoming, family-run business where people enjoy coming to work every day. This role offers a great opportunity to grow your skills while working on a variety of motorhomes in a supportive, hands-on environment. We're all about quality workmanship, teamwork, and taking pride in what we do — and we love having motivated people who feel the same way.

If you're committed to delivering excellent mechanical work and want to be part of a friendly, down-to-earth team that values you as a person, we'd be excited to hear from you.
