Rapha Residential Care is seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our children's home in Ashford. We provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children and young people are encouraged to build life skills, engage in education, and enjoy positive social opportunities.

Role Overview

As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the smooth day-to-day running of the home. You'll lead and inspire a team of Residential Care Workers, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance with Ofsted and local authority requirements. In the Manager's absence, you will take full responsibility for the home's operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily operations and maintaining excellent standards of care
  • Lead, supervise, and develop staff, promoting professional growth
  • Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed at all times
  • Support with care planning and regular reviews for each child
  • Manage staff rotas and ensure adequate cover
  • Participate in audits, quality assurance, and improvement plans
  • Build strong relationships with parents, social workers, and external agencies
  • Take part in the on-call rota to provide management support

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3/4 in Residential Childcare (essential); management qualification desirable
  • Experience: 3+ years in residential childcare, including 1+ year in a supervisory/managerial role; experience with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties preferred
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, organisation, and resilience under pressure
  • Values: Empathy, patience, and commitment to safeguarding and positive outcomes for children
