Candidates must possess the necessary right to work authorisation to enable them to work for Chesterfield Borough Council. Regrettably, we are unable to provide sponsorship or assume sponsorship of an employment visa at this juncture.

We currently have positions available for an individuals to join the building cleaning team on a part time basis. This contract is for 21 hours per week, including weekend working.

We have locations to clean all over the borough, including:

  • office buildings and theatres
  • public venues consisting of public toilets and parks pavilions
  • communal areas of housing complexes
  • empty housing properties, to prepare for the next tenants

The work is often quite physical and will include:

  • some manual handling duties
  • hand sweeping and mopping stairs
  • cleaning windows and large areas of plate glass
  • scrubbing tiles and floors in changing areas

Specialist cleaning machines, such as floor buffers, will also be used.

You will also be:

  • emptying waste bins and ensuring waste is disposed of properly
  • replenishing supplies such as hand soap and paper towels
  • vacuuming large floor spaces
  • dusting skirting boards, door frames and office furniture

The successful candidates will need to be flexible, as it is highly likely that your working location and the tasks you are completing will change regularly. This post is provisionally based at the pavements centre but you could be asked to work at any of our locations. Hours of work include:

  • 05:00 to 08:00 Monday to Saturday, and
  • 15:30 to 18:30 Saturday
