Fixed-term Stipendiary Lectureship

Hertford College intends to appoint a fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturer in Law from
20 April 2026 – 16 April 2027.
The successful candidate will be asked to provide tutorial teaching in Contract Law and Tort Law.
The Lecturer will be under the direction of Dr Aruna Nair and Dr Kate Greasley, Fellows and Tutors in Law at Hertford. The overall tutorial teaching load will be an average of 4 contact hours per week, (in groups of two/three and small classes) over three terms.
The successful candidate should have a good degree in Law and would be expected to have, or be close to completing, a doctorate in the subject, although applications from those who do not have a doctorate, but who have commensurate experience and qualifications, will also be considered. Experience of teaching undergraduates, preferably in small groups, would be an advantage, as would experience with Oxford's undergraduate admissions process.
The salary for the 4-hour lectureship will be in the range £11,270 – £12,446
per annum
, depending on qualifications and experience, and will be pensionable with USS. The successful candidate will be entitled to associate membership of the college's Senior Common Room (SCR), free lunches while undertaking teaching duties in term time and during vacations, and access to an academic allowance.
