Are you ready to lead and transform fleet operations in one of the UK's largest local authorities? Birmingham City Council is seeking a strategic and dynamic Fleet Manager to oversee our fleet services within the Street Scene Division. This is a pivotal role focused on compliance, operational excellence, and sustainability.

  • Day to day management of the fleet department
  • Lead and manage daily fleet scheduling and utilisation.
  • Ensure legal compliance across all vehicles (tax, insurance, MOTs, licensing).
  • Develop strategies to reduce downtime and improve productivity.
  • Manage maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs.
  • Lead and develop the fleet operations team.
  • Oversee budgets and ensure cost-effective fleet management.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives and fuel efficiency improvements.
  • Support procurement and disposal of vehicles, ensuring environmental compliance.

What you'll need...

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Fleet/Business Management.
  • CPC in Road Haulage or Passenger Transport Operations.
  • Proven experience managing large vehicle fleets.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle lifecycle costs and depreciation.
  • Experience with fleet software, data analysis, and supplier management.
  • Budget management and cost control expertise.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and present data-driven insights.
  • Commitment to sustainability and continuous professional development.
