Job role and purpose:

The Credit Union Officer is responsible for the provision of administrative services to members of the Credit Union.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The main duties and responsibilities of the role are to:

· Promote the services of the Credit Union to both new and existing members with an emphasis on selling loans and promoting all services.

· Act as the first point of contact with members on reception, by telephone or by email providing information and welcoming new members. This includes, but is not limited to, processing new member applications, loan applications and delinquency/credit control.

· Record all transactions on members' accounts at point of sale and provide information on new products and all services.

· Process all loans and share withdrawals within allocation in line with agreed policies and procedures and deadlines.

· Provide accurate information to members about their accounts and refer on to different departments where necessary.

· Ensure all forms, whether paper or electronic, are completed correctly and in a timely manner before being processed.

· Undertake general administration, e.g., filing, mail, scanning, indexing, etc.

· Update members' accounts including personal and financial details.

· Assist members with security access to their accounts, e.g., by resetting PINs and password security data when required.

· Ensure compliance at all times with anti-money laundering, fraud, data protection and sanctions processes.

· Ensure accuracy of data entry into banking systems and that all security controls are in place to enable correct operation of the system.

· Ensure all payments, either manual or automated, are processed correctly and monitored on a regular basis.

Essential Requirement

Education

  • GCSEs at grade 9 to 4/A* to C in English and Maths

Knowledge required

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications

Experience required

  • Customer Service/Administrative experience

Skills and aptitude required

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly empathy to support members in distress

  • Ability to process transactions with a high degree of accuracy and analysis

  • Attention to detail

Personal qualities

  • Self-motivated

  • Willingness to learn
