Role

We are looking for a credit analyst to deliver European leveraged finance analysis from debt origination and primary to restructuring. The analyst will be a member of a team of 9 covering both performing and distressed credits  and be responsible for publishing credit research reports with actionable investment ideas, focusing on fundamental credit analysis, relative value analysis, and valuation.

The role requires to closely monitor financial markets and specifically leveraged finance as we are an incumbent provider of data and analysis in this segment. It also requires collaboration with our reporters, lawyers and other groups in generating cross-disciplinary research and analysis for our subscribers, which include top institutional asset managers, hedge funds, investment banks, trading desks, and financial and legal advisors. The role involves a degree of client interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze a portfolio of European high-yield, stressed and distressed credits - eventually taking ownership of sectors, topical names
  • Conduct in-depth fundamental credit analysis, relative value assessments, and develop forward-looking valuation models to generate actionable investment ideas.
  • Track market trends and have conversation among team members and other editorial groups to help guide coverage
  • Work closely with Octus' legal analysts and reporters to deliver value-added insights on topical credit situations.
  • Respond promptly to subscriber requests, which may envisage updating capital structures, participating in calls to offer informed perspectives on credits under your coverage.
  • Maintain active communication with clients and industry contacts to source new ideas
  • Support the Editorial group on ad hoc requests and respond to market-moving news to ensure timely and comprehensive coverage

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years in credit research (buy-side or sell-side), investment banking, advisory, or rating agency experience
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Proficient in building capital structures, financial modeling, and cash flow projections.
  • Strong understanding of business operations, key risks, revenue drivers, credit metrics, and macroeconomic factors
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and assess business performance
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
