Job Overview

To assist the Cook with managing the provision of a high-quality food service and creating a pleasant meal experience which is value for money that meet the Lime Trust standard for all pupils, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • To comply with and assist with the development of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security SEN/Inclusion, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate named person.
  • To adhere to school health and safety policy including risk assessment and safety systems and to take appropriate action to identify, evaluate and minimise any risks to health, safety and security in the immediate working environment.
  • To adhere to Trust policy on equality and diversity and to contribute to the values, culture, ethos, equalities and inclusion policies of the school proactively promoting anti-racist, anti-sexist and anti-discriminatory behaviours in the day-to-day operation of the job.
  • To appreciate and support the role of other professionals.

Experience

  • Working at supervisory level within a kitchen.
  • Planning menus, staff rotas, stock monitoring.
  • Managing and leading staff.
  • Working with young people and/or within a school environment.

Skills

  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Effective team leader and team player.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • A commitment to on-going personal development and willingness to undertake appropriate training.

Qualifications

  • Food Hygiene Certificate (min Level 3) / NVQ Level 3 Catering Qualification or equivalent
  • Good understanding of both Health & Safety, COSH and Food Hygiene regulations/legislation.
