Unless exempt, we encourage and support staff to be vaccinated as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19.
Job overviewCornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing and we understand how important the first 1001 days are in an infant's life.
Our Specialist Perinatal Mental Health team supports new mums and mums-to-be experiencing severe to moderate mental health illness during the perinatal period. As part of a substantial service expansion, your experience and compassion could be just what we need to deliver our long term ambition for this vital service.
This an exciting time to join the team as we continue to grow and develop to deliver a high-quality mental health response to women in the perinatal period and their partners. The Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service was successful in gaining accreditation in January 2024.
You will work as part of an established integrated multi-disciplinary Specialist Perinatal Mental Health team which promotes a dynamic and innovative way of working, triaging and responding to referrals, conducting face to face assessments and therapeutic interventions working with other team members to provide a holistic and bespoke approach to every family on our caseload.
Although we are a county wide service we work in a locality based model to minimise clinicians travel time. The successful candidate will predominately work in the East of Cornwall, but they will be required to come to the base (Truro Health Park) during the induction period and for duty days, meetings and training as required.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will have a core qualification (eg RMN, OT or SW), will have previous experience of working within mental health services.
They will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the effective provision of Perinatal Mental and Infant Mental Health Services to an identified caseload of women.
The post holder will work as a senior member of the team and liaise with a wide range of both statutory and non-statutory agencies to provide creative packages of care that meet national standards set out by NHSE and the Royal College of Psychiatrists Perinatal Quality Network.
The post holder will be involved in the triaging of referrals to the service, carry out perinatal assessments and will deliver specialist therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing identified perinatal and infant mental health needs in the family. The post holder will have the opportunity to train in further perinatal specific training to support them in their role.
The core purpose of the team in which the post-holder will work, is to deliver high quality, tailored interventions in maternal mental health and attachment based approaches to mothers and infants in Cornwall. The service will have a key role in raising the profile and standards of mental health care for expectant and newly delivered mothers across universal and specialist services.
Working for our organisationWe're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.
We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.
Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.
We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.
Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
