Job description

The job holder will provide advanced data analysis, reporting, and insights to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the portfolio to improve decision making and ensure the successful delivery of key transformation projects.

Person specification

Job holder will be responsible for:

  • Preparing advanced data analysis of performance trends to enable high quality insights in relation to the performance of the transformation portfolio.
  • Working across Transformation Directorate to identify opportunities where data can be better used to optimise performance.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and agree data requirements and lead in the delivery of solutions.
  • Providing data-driven recommendations to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of data governance and quality assurance processes.
  • Building resilience in the Portfolio reporting team by supporting monthly reporting processes where required.
  • Being visible in TD as a data expert and provide guidance and coaching to colleagues /stakeholders as appropriate.

Essential Criteria

  • Lead criteria: Demonstrable, extensive experience of using Power Bi and similar tools to develop and visualise data to create/ maintain performance metrics to generate insights to inform senior level decision making.
  • The ability to source, work with, analyse and accurately assure multiple, complex data sets to draw conclusions, identify trends and make recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and evidence of working with a breadth of stakeholders, including senior leaders to lead in gathering requirements and deliver data solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to share insights, with experience of presenting data and drafting reports for technical and non-technical audiences and senior leaders.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced environment, to tight deadlines.

Desirable Criteria

  • A relevant professional qualification or working towards one, such as Management of Portfolios; P3O or APM Project Fundamentals.
  • Previous experience of working within a complex Project, Programme or Portfolio Management Office environment.

Interview

During the panel interview, you will be assessed on Behaviours and a Technical presentation. The presentation will be based on an element of the essential criteria and is expected to be 10 mins. Candidates will be expected to answer questions on the presentation Successful candidates will be given detailed information prior to interview.

Hybrid working at HMRC

HMRC is an office-based organisation, and colleagues are expected to spend 60% of their working time in the office.
