We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled clinician who will contribute to delivering outstanding, patient-centred care across our Obstetrics and Gynaecology services, while playing a key role in the ongoing development of our benign Gynaecology pathways.
Experience in managing complex benign Gynaecological conditions, including complex fibroids and laparoscopic or open major surgery, is highly desirable.
We are looking for a motivated, collaborative individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to women's health.
Applicants must hold:
CCT (or equivalent) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the time of appointment.
Completed advanced training in benign Gynaecological surgery (or equivalent experience in major abdominal surgery).
Completed the Advanced Labour Ward ATSM (or equivalent)
Interviews to be held on 20 January 2026.
Please see the full Job Description and the Person Specification for further details about the job role.
Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
The successful candidate will:
Provide high-quality care across a broad range of benign Gynaecological services.
Lead and develop benign Gynaecology clinics and theatres, including complex fibroid management and advanced benign surgical cases.
Participate in rapid access and specialist Gynaecology clinics, including outpatient hysteroscopy and one-stop diagnostic services.
Take part in the Labour Ward rota, providing consultant-led intrapartum care (1 in 8 weekend and 1 in 16 weekday on-call pattern; Band A supplement).
Support teaching, supervision, and mentorship of junior medical staff and contribute to audit, governance, and service development.
Engage with ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Our department provides a full range of specialist Gynaecology services, including:
Colposcopy and combined oncology
Gynae-endocrinology
Vulval disease and menopause clinics
Outpatient hysteroscopy and rapid access services
Fertility (including IUI procedures)
Urogynaecology and endometriosis
Early pregnancy and emergency Gynaecology
We are proud of our strong multidisciplinary ethos, modern facilities, and close integration with community-based women's services.
You'll be joining a team that values excellence, learning, and compassionate care, with access to opportunities for leadership, education, and research.
Please see the attached job description and person specification for full details.
