Hawk 3 Talent Solutions are recruiting for a Purchasing Director for a company based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. You will be a commercially astute, strategically minded procurement leader — to join the senior leadership team and take ownership of the purchasing operation. This is a rare opportunity to influence company-wide success at a pivotal stage of growth.

The Role

  • Reporting directly to the Manufacturing Director, you will:
  • Lead and develop a team of six experienced buyers.
  • Own the sourcing strategy for steel, components, and subcontract services — primarily UK-based, with some international procurement.
  • Ensure quality, cost-efficiency, and continuity of supply across a complex supply chain.
  • Drive rebate income, cost savings, and supplier performance improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a procurement strategy focused on cost reduction, value engineering, and supplier optimisation.
  • Negotiate long-term supplier agreements, including rebate and incentive-based contracts.
  • Monitor market trends (particularly steel) to manage supply risks and maintain competitive advantage.
  • Drive KPIs: cost savings, supplier OTIF, lead time reduction, inventory turnover, PO accuracy, rebate income, and compliance.
  • Champion ERP and reporting system improvements for enhanced visibility and accuracy.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years of procurement experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within manufacturing.
  • Proven success sourcing steel and fabrication components.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills, including international supplier management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAGE/Sicon preferred) and procurement analytics.
  • A hands-on, performance-driven leader with the ability to influence at all levels.
