London, Greater London, United Kingdom Carbon3 - Building the UK's AI Solution Platform Full time £40,000 - £80,000 per year

Carbon3AI is the UK's newest sustainable AI infrastructure provider, building modular, energy-efficient data centres that deliver high-performance compute for AI, ML, and enterprise workloads.

With our flagship UK site already live and more in development, we're expanding our operations team and looking for a hands-on leader to maintain resilience, performance, and service excellence across our sites.

This is a hybrid position combining leadership, technical operations, and service delivery in a mission-critical environment. You'll oversee day-to-day data centre operations across multiple sites, ensuring 100% uptime while leading a small, high-performing technical team.

You'll be equally comfortable managing people and processes as you are rolling up your sleeves — supporting installs, structured cabling, client visits, and vendor coordination. This is a client-facing, predominantly on-site role with occasional participation in an on-call rota.

Key Responsibilities
*Technical Operations & Support*

  • Resolve hardware, network, and system issues both remotely and on-site
  • Perform diagnostics, updates, and maintenance on servers, switches, and other infrastructure
  • Rack and stack equipment, patch cabling, and perform audits across all sites
  • Provide "remote hands" services for clients and partners

*Team Leadership & Mentorship*

  • Manage a queue of technical service requests and ensure timely resolution
  • Lead, mentor, and develop junior technicians
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and documentation

*Client & Vendor Coordination*

  • Liaise directly with clients and internal stakeholders to uphold SLAs and service excellence
  • Host site tours and support onboarding of new deployments
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service engineers

*Infrastructure Management & Compliance*

  • Monitor site performance and proactively identify risks or issues
  • Maintain documentation, change logs, and health & safety procedures
  • Participate in after-hours incident response and on-call rotation

*Systems Administration*

  • Provide basic administration of systems such as Active Directory, endpoint protection, and ITSM tools
  • Support AV and meeting technology in site offices as required
  • Perform equipment and license audits for compliance and asset tracking

What You'll Bring

  • Extensive experience in IT support, data centre, or colocation environments
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills (hardware, networks, remote support)
  • Experience managing service queues and prioritising critical incidents
  • Proven leadership or team mentorship experience
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills — you'll represent Carbon3AI on-site
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and data centre safety practices

Desirable (Not Essential)

  • CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Server+), ITIL Foundation
  • Experience installing and supporting Nvidia or AMD GPUs
  • Prior experience in modular, edge, or sustainable data centre environments
  • Familiarity with DCIM tools and monitoring platforms

Background: IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar (degree or equivalent experience)

Location: This role requires some travel to UK sites, and should be completed from within UK.
