Location: Central Hove, East Sussex
Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience
Hours: Full time preferred, although reduced hours will be considered
Working pattern: Fully office based
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Software: Xero and Dext
CIS: Awareness required, but no strong CIS responsibility at the outset
About the Company
We are a long-established, friendly, family-run construction and property development company based in central Hove. We work on a wide range of commercial and residential projects across Sussex and have an experienced finance team already in place. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to join the team in a permanent office-based role.
Role Overview
The bookkeeper will work with the wider finance team providing core day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities. The role involves working across multiple SPV companies within the group, so experience handling multi-entity bookkeeping is highly beneficial.
In addition to core duties, the bookkeeper will assist with project-level financial reporting and support the preparation and maintenance of cashflow forecasts across active construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Helping prepare and update weekly and monthly cashflow forecasts
Assisting with intercompany postings and reconciliations across multiple SPVs
- Supporting project-level cost tracking and financial reporting
- Matching purchase orders and checking invoice accuracy
- Performing daily and weekly bank reconciliations
- Processing receipts and expenses through Dext
- Assisting with month-end routines where needed
- Maintaining accurate financial records for ongoing construction projects
- Helping respond to supplier queries and supporting the finance team
- General finance administration
- Supporting the team with CIS-related tasks as required (training available)
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven bookkeeping experience within the construction industry
- Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)
- Experience using Dext for invoice capture
- Good understanding of bookkeeping fundamentals, supplier management, and bank reconciliations
