Rolls-Royce SMR is seeking a highly experienced and strategic
Lead Estimator
to manage project-specific estimates. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates, maintaining Basis of Estimate reports, and developing Estimate Management Plans. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, deep industry knowledge, and proficiency in cost estimation software.

What you will do;

  • Oversee and lead the collation of detailed cost estimates for all components of the SMR, including design programmes, EC&I, civils, structures, architecture, and nuclear island.
  • Develop and maintain project specific Basis of Estimate (BOE) reports to ensure transparency and accuracy in cost estimation.
  • Create and manage specific Estimate Management Plans (EMP) to guide the estimation process and ensure consistency across the project.
  • Compile and present cost estimates and financial implications to key stakeholders, including senior management and project teams.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential cost overruns and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure cost-effective solutions and value engineering opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and regulations to ensure competitive and compliant estimates.
  • Utilise cost estimation software and tools to prepare and manage estimates.
  • Demonstrate understanding of project scheduling software, such as Primavera P6, to integrate cost estimates with project timelines.

Ideally you will have;

  • Advanced Estimating Expertise in Nuclear, Energy or Civils Infrastructure
  • Proven experience leading complex cost estimating for major infrastructure projects, ideally within the nuclear, oil & gas or highly regulated sectors.
  • Familiarity with AACE cost estimate classifications and maturity models.

Pay And Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary of between £57,600 - £72,000 DOE plus:-

  • Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
  • Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
  • Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
  • Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
  • Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
  • £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
