Interim Chief Product & Technology Officer (Oxford-based)

Fast-Growing Tech Company | Hardware & Software | 3 Days/Week | £1,200-£1,500/Day

We are working with a fast-growing tech company to find an interim CPTO to lead its technology team through an important period of growth. This search is confidential.

The Challenge

This company, which builds both hardware and software, is growing quickly. The tech team needs to expand and shift from reacting to issues to following reliable product cycles.

The team has strong skills, but they need experienced leadership to stay ahead as the company grows.

The Role

  • 3 days/week, 5-6 months
  • £1,200-£1,500/day (inside IR35)
  • Oxford-based, 1-2 days/week in the office
  • Ideally, immediately available or can start mid-January

In the first 2 to 3 months, you will focus on significant changes, such as restructuring, establishing new ways of working, and building an operating model that supports growth.

After that, you will coach the leadership team to take on more responsibility. You will also work directly with customers and represent the technology side to enterprise clients.

Three Critical Requirements

  1. Commercial Operator: You are comfortable talking with customers and have a founder or senior leadership background, having helped guide a company's direction.
  2. Scale-Up Veteran: You have grown tech teams quickly during periods of rapid change and know how to plan for what's coming next.
  3. Hardware and Software Delivery: You have experience working with both physical products and software. Only having SaaS experience is not enough for this role.

  • Strong people leader who develops leadership teams
  • Transformation experience leading consequential organisational change
  • Technical credibility, with a background in software engineering
  • Could be Chief Product Officer with hardware + software delivery experience.

Stable team structure, repeatable delivery cycles, confident customer engagement, and stronger leadership capability.
