We're looking for a
Software Engineer
to join our web engineering community at Tesco Bank, part of Barclays Bank UK Plc.

This role will be focused on helping us continuously drive-up high quality and secure applications through implementing our best practices and standards. You'll be working with the latest technologies and keeping our software currency fresh.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Helping us create highly available web Apps to onboard customers into the bank, using Typescript / Javascript, React and NodeJS. Apps are built on AWS.
  • Building features and technical proofs of concept, working alongside with senior and lead software engineers to assist in design and discovery phases ultimately enhancing our engineering team.
  • Working closely with our Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Architects, Cloud Engineers and Test Engineers to shape the quality of our products and platforms.
  • You'll be key in delivering features through route to live changes in an Agile way of working.
  • Bringing your skills and experience, to make a significant impact on how we deliver software within our feature teams.
  • Helping to continuously drive up the quality for our customers through implementing our best practices and standards.

We need you to have

  • Experience of TypeScript and/or JavaScript, Node, one UI framework (such as React) along with the tool ecosystem.
  • Ability to write clean, well-tested code which can be easily maintained by large teams.
  • Experience of best practises around unit testing.
  • Experience of supporting and running services you have developed.
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of AWS services.
  • Knowledge of Agile practises and ceremonies.

And if you have any of these, even better

  • Exposure to DevOps toolsets and CI/CD concepts.
  • Understanding and exposure to integrating REST API endpoints.
  • Understanding of containerisation technologies.
