Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Care Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing high-quality care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. This role requires a blend of patience, empathy, and practical skills to support clients with diverse needs, including those with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support to clients, assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Monitor and document clients' health and wellbeing, reporting any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
  • Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
  • Support clients with mobility needs, including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Engage in behaviour management techniques to support clients with challenging behaviours.
  • Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients at all times.
  • Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or home care is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of patient care practices, including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, and senior care is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications in nursing or caregiving are an advantage.
  • First aid certification is preferred.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist clients with mobility challenges.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
  • A valid driving licence is beneficial for transporting clients when needed.
