Credit Manager, Large Counterparty Credit

Join us as a Credit Manager in Large Counterparty Credit
- We'll look to you to sanction borrowing applications within a delegated authority level in accordance with current risk appetite, process, and procedures
- You'll actively shape risk appetite on a sector basis, structure credit solutions to meet customers' needs, and provide assurance of consistent and disciplined credit underwriting with key risks identified
- You'll enjoy considerable visibility and stakeholder interaction, establishing and maintaining effective relationships, acting as an ambassador for the function to raise credit skills and awareness, and supporting, coaching, and mentoring colleagues within the team
This specialist role will see you actively shaping our risk appetite and providing the second line of defence to ensure the first line remains within our lending appetite and policy. You'll also ensure and that robust risk and control frameworks are in place and followed.
Adopting a subject matter expert status with relationship and portfolio management teams, you'll support client discussions and the shaping of transactions. You'll also proactively drive and implement relevant processes to facilitate the early identification of emerging problem cases, ensuring effective risk management to protect our position.
In addition to this, you'll:
- Meet data quality obligations with accuracy and diligence to ensure accurate reporting and capital efficiency
- Drive the oversight process to provide assurance to senior management on appetite adherence and control processes
- Maintain strong cost discipline and identify and take forward improvements to the credit process that create capacity and improve the customer proposition
- Read, understand, and challenge legal documentation and understand cash flow and stress testing modelling
We're looking for an experienced lender with knowledge and understanding of the private markets funds financing sector, covering a full range of financing and derivative products, as well as drivers of change. You'll understand credit policy, economic, legal, regulatory, and specialist sector issues and you'll have a strong commercial awareness and the ability to shape complex deals to create fair customer outcomes while protecting our position.
As well as this, you'll demonstrate:
- Sound analytical and technical credit skills
- An understanding of underlying products, asset classes, and legal jurisdictions in order to shape credit policy, modelling, and portfolio management monitoring
- The ability to lead client due diligence meetings and drive sector projects
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
- A formal banking qualification or equivalent professional experience with accreditation aligned to the role or a commitment to obtain one within 12 months
