Salary: £109,179 – £125,637 per annum (Pro Rata, DOE) + £6,000 Welcome Bonus (subject to T&Cs)

Hours: 21 hours per week

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to lead and develop specialist psychiatry provision within a rehabilitation setting for adults with acquired brain injury. The role operates within a recovery-focused, bio-psycho-social model, supporting individuals to develop strategies and coping mechanisms for long-term recovery. The Consultant Psychiatrist will provide clinical leadership, strategic oversight, and specialist input within a multidisciplinary team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead consultant for neuropsychiatry and Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
  • Conduct regular psychiatric reviews and provide specialist psychiatric advice to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Lead clinical team meetings and oversee case management, including supervision of other medical staff.
  • Liaise with internal and external professionals, organisations, families, and service users.
  • Ensure high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric interventions within a neurobehavioral rehabilitation model.
  • Participate in non-residential on-call rota and support pre-admission assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and professional standards, including Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Support clinical leadership, address performance issues, and promote collaborative working.

Requirements:

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with licence to practise.
  • MRCPsych and Approved Clinician status.
  • S12 approval under the Mental Health Act
  • Experience in neuropsychiatry and rehabilitation settings.
  • Strong clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social perspective.
  • Ability to make evidence-based decisions, provide consultancy, and lead clinical teams.
  • Commitment to shared leadership, quality improvement, and collaborative working.
