We are expanding our team and seeking a Team Leader – Garden Maintenance to oversee daily operations and ensure all works are carried out to a consistently high standard. This is a hands-on role that requires strong horticultural knowledge, leadership skills, and a genuine passion for gardening and landscaping.

You will lead a small team and van, manage daily tasks, maintain equipment standards, and ensure clients' gardens and grounds are kept in excellent condition. You will be expected to deliver a first-class service, develop junior staff, and uphold our company's reputation for quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading a small team to deliver routine and seasonal garden maintenance tasks
  • Overseeing quality of work, ensuring client specifications are met
  • Carrying out and delegating tasks such as mowing, hedge cutting, strimming, weeding, pruning, planting, and pressure washing
  • Conducting site assessments and reporting back to management
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and tool care, ensuring all equipment is used safely and appropriately
  • Engaging professionally with clients on-site when needed
  • Supporting and mentoring junior gardeners and labourers
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations at all times
  • Daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance of tools and machinery

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' professional garden maintenance experience
  • Full UK driving licence (manual)
  • Strong horticultural knowledge and plant care experience
  • Experience operating garden machinery (e.g. mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters)
  • Good communication and team leadership skills
  • Ability to work at a fast pace while maintaining attention to detail
  • Physically fit and capable of outdoor work in all weather
  • Reliable, honest, and able to take initiative
  • Fluent in English, well-presented and professional

Desirable

  • Formal horticulture qualifications (e.g. RHS, NVQ, City & Guilds)
  • Experience in soft landscaping and garden design
  • PA1/PA6 spraying certification
  • Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
