We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented placement student to join our finance team for a 12-month Accounting and Finance placement. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting and finance functions, including journal entry preparation, month-end close processes, bank reconciliations, payroll support, and internal billing. The successful candidate will play an active role in supporting both day-to-day operations and key financial reporting activities, working closely with various teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following :
  • Analysing accounting issues & preparation of journal entries.
  • Assisting with monthly accounting close process & US checklists
  • Bank account monitoring & preparation of General ledger reconciliations.
  • Supplying invoice & billing backup for recharges to Business Areas.
  • Prepare Bank transfers & some ad hoc payments.
  • Submittal of UK Payroll files into BACS
  • Internal & External Audit process support.
  • Correct recording of payroll, overheads, rents, pre-paids, liabilities and other expenses.
  • Clearance of suspense accounts
  • Maintain Internal Billing System details.
  • Proactive and diligent support to other team members
Ad hoc support to UK Travel, Accounts Payable & Payroll teams

Required skills, qualifications and experience
  • Working towards degree in Accounting, or associated Finance / Business discipline
  • Demonstrated experience or interest in accounting and finance
  • Demonstrated experience performing analysis and interpreting data
  • Attention to detail

Enterprise Operations (EO) consists of IT Services, Payroll, ESH, HR and Global Financial Services.
EO provides support to all Lockheed Martin UK Business Areas throughout the UK.
This placement role is based within the Finance & Accounting function, but will have interaction with other departments.
