Prescription Clerk

Summary

We are looking for an organised, friendly and motivated Prescription Clerk to join our busy team at Spilsby Surgery. The successful candidate will support the smooth running of the prescription process, ensuring all medication requests are handled safely, accurately, and efficiently. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well within a team in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prescription / Administrative Duties

• Process and input prescription requests accurately on SystmOne.
• Deal with prescription queries received by phone, email, or internal task.
• Monitor internal post boxes throughout the day.
• Provide patients with information and education on their prescriptions and ways to order.
• Action reminders for patients requiring medication reviews or monitoring.
• Liaise with pharmacies on medication supply issues and inform clinicians of recommended alternatives.
• Promote and support electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering systems.
• Assist dispensary staff with booking in stock orders and returning uncollected items to stock.
• Maintain accurate, confidential prescription records at all times.

General Duties

• Input and extract information from the practice computer system.
• Participate in the staff rota to provide cover for sickness and holidays.
• Attend staff and practice meetings when required.
• Undertake relevant training to ensure safe and efficient performance.
• Comply with all health and safety guidelines and practice policies.
• Contribute to maintaining a clean, organised, and professional working environment.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the dispensary and wider practice team.

Job Type: Temp to perm

Contract length: 9 months

Pay: £12.45 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
