Role Overview:

The Accounts Assistant will focus on managing credit control along with both the purchase ledger and sales ledger. This role is an administrative role which involves smooth financial operations, accurate record-keeping, and maintaining positive relationships with both suppliers and customers. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

While this role is finance-focused, there is potential for it to develop into HR and payroll responsibilities over time. As such, we are looking for someone with good people skills, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information.

Key Responsibilities: Accounts & Financial Administration

  • Credit Control: Chase outstanding customer payments professionally and effectively to improve cash flow., ensuring correct approvals and timely payments.
  • Purchase Ledger: Process and maintain supplier invoices
  • Sales Ledger: Raise and issue sales invoices, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Maintain and reconcile customer and supplier accounts, resolving discrepancies where necessary.
  • Assist in bank reconciliations and monitor company cash flow.
  • Process employee expenses and assist with financial documentation.
  • Prepare reports for management, including aged debt analysis and supplier payment schedules.
  • Have a basic understanding of VAT.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial administration.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong numerical skills and high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, particularly for credit control and dealing with suppliers/customers.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn and grow into HR and payroll functions in the future.
  • Experience in payroll or HR administration (desirable but not essential).
