The Bank of England's Centre for Central Banking Studies (CCBS) runs an extensive programme of events for central bankers and financial regulators from around the world. Our mission is to equip central bankers and financial regulators – both in the UK and across the globe – with the frontier skills and expert knowledge they need to tackle the challenges they face.

We are looking for a dynamic and driven individual to take on a key leadership role within CCBS, managing a high-performing team and driving operational excellence across our division.

Key Responsibilities: 

Line managing 5 EAs and 1 RA:  

  • Manage the workflow of the EA team, allocating resources effectively in a busy operational setting. 
  • Develop staff in their careers. 
  • Identify and solve practical problems. 
  • Provide support and pastoral care for team members  

Improving team and divisional efficiency: 

  • Identify and implement process and operational improvements to make running events more efficient. 
  • Lead ongoing workstream on deploying AI to simplify tasks, improve processes, and make things easier. 
  • Support and drive EA work on improving the platforms and use of technology within CCBS  

Leading internal programmes: 

  • Act as the contact point for CCBS' aspects of graduate induction 
  • Lead/coordinate the foundation year, interfacing with the Future Talent team and event directors. 

Working with individual CCBS teams to ensure that EA and logistical support is deployed effectively 

  • Ensure colleagues have a shared understanding of how the EA team supports our activities
  • Act as first point of call when issues arise. 

Supporting divisional structures 

  • Work with wider management team to ensure that divisional initiatives are well supported across the EA team and wider advisor staff. 
  • Work with the HoD on divisional budget processes. 
  • Build capacity and systems for internal secondments and gig exchange to bring external resources into CCBS

Delivery of events

  • (Co)-lead events on foundation year, grad induction and other offerings, in line with background and experience

  • Ability to motivate and drive a high-performing team. 
  • Strong track record of leading and managing others 
  • Experience of and enthusiasm for driving process improvements and new ways of working

Essential Criteria

  • Interpersonal skills including teamwork. 
  • Ability to solve problems, harness technology and troubleshoot. 
  • Confidence in speaking truth to power, including other managers, event directors, and HoDs. 
  • Capable of organising and delivering events, training or presentations to internal or external audiences.
  • Interest in central banking and the substance of CCBS work.

Salary and Benefits Information

We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements.  Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.

Salaries are as follows:

Leeds circa £48,640 - £54,720

London circa £54,080 - £60,840

In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
  • Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.  The Bank has the discretion to vary standard accrual rates and dial up and dial down rates at any time and to withdraw dial up and dial down options at any time.
  • A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
  • An 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.   
  • 26 days' annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits. 
  • Private medical insurance and income protection.


National Security Vetting Process
