Are you passionate about helping children with SEMH needs thrive, supporting pupils and making a positive difference?

The Harmony Trust has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and successful teacher as Specialist Practitioner with specialism in working with pupils with SEMH. At The Harmony Trust, Specialist Practitioners lead academy provision and model excellence in teaching, supporting pupils with complex needs and driving inclusive practice across our academies.

The postholder will initially lead provision within the Alvaston Junior Academy Inclusion Hub but may offer support across our Derby academies as part of the Harmony Trust Development Team.

At The Harmony Trust, our work is guided by our core values:

  • Respect and Acceptance – We celebrate diversity and ensure every child and adult feels valued.
  • Honesty and Integrity – We act with transparency and fairness in all we do.
  • Compassion and Kindness – We nurture positive relationships and support wellbeing.
  • Resilience and Responsibility – We persevere through challenges and take ownership of our actions.
  • Co-operation and Collaboration – We work together to achieve shared goals.
  • Aspiration and Motivation – We inspire ambition and encourage everyone to reach their full potential.

We welcome applications from excellent teachers who have:

  • Excellence classroom practice and are able to adapt teaching to meet need.
  • Experience of supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, including strategies for self-regulation and resilience.
  • Experience in designing and delivering bespoke, nurturing curricula for pupils who may be working below age-related expectation and require personalised learning pathways.
  • The ability to create communication-friendly and emotionally supportive environments.
  • The ability to adapt teaching for pupils with SEND and EAL, ensuring inclusive and high-quality learning experiences.
  • SENDCo experience welcome but not essential.

Join us in making a meaningful impact on children's lives and shaping the future of provision for pupils with SEMH needs across The Harmony Trust and beyond.
