We are partnering with a global leader in transfusion and infectious disease diagnostics seeking a
Senior Product Development Scientist
to join its Product Development team. This role is central to advancing innovative serological and immunohematology products, driving excellence from design through to validation and commercialisation.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific & Technical Leadership
- Lead and coordinate design and development projects within the Product Development department, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and quality standards.
- Design, execute, and interpret complex studies supporting product development, process improvements, and troubleshooting activities.
- Prepare, review, and present scientific reports, development protocols, and risk analyses (FMEA, process maps, validation documentation).
- Oversee the commissioning and validation of new laboratory equipment and processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of scientific and regulatory advancements to inform innovation and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Regulatory, Quality, and Project Management teams to ensure compliance with design control, GMP, and relevant standards.
- Support interdisciplinary projects and represent Product Development in cross-functional meetings and audits.
- Contribute to the preparation of regulatory submissions and technical documentation supporting global product approvals.
People & Project Management
- Mentor and train junior scientists, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence.
- Coordinate project teams to ensure rapid completion of work packages and successful delivery of milestones.
- Lead departmental organisation, ensuring adherence to safety, documentation, and quality procedures.
Ideal Candidate
- Degree in life sciences or related field; higher degree desirable.
- Extensive experience in product or assay development within regulated environments (IVD, medical devices, or pharma).
- Strong record of leading development projects through design control and validation phases.
- Skilled in data analysis, statistical interpretation, and technical reporting.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior scientists.
- Familiarity with immunohaematology, cell culture, or protein-based assay techniques is advantageous.
- Excellent communicator, adept at working across scientific and commercial functions.
- Proactive, analytical, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
