The role

Due to continuing growth within SSEN Transmission's Engineering team and our strategy to develop in-house modelling support, we are looking for a CAD Engineer with significant experience of 2D & 3D AEC Autodesk applications.

You will

  • Provide modelling, design, and drafting support on your assigned project(s) to develop and optimise Substation layouts to SSE requirements.
  • Be involved in project options and development assessments, conceptual designs and developing work on BIM standards, model libraries and the ongoing training and development of the team.
  • Be the main point of contact for all project graphical representation works.
  • Develop models, drawings, schematics, diagrams, maps, and other documentation as required, on time and to requisite standards.

You have

  • Significant real-world experience and demonstrated proficiency in Revit, and a proven ability to create and support Revit Families and implement BIM solutions effectively. Proficiency in additional Autodesk AEC applications (e.g. Infraworks, ReCap, Twinmotion) would be particularly welcome.
  • Solid knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud (or BIM 360), collaborative and coordinated workflows, a familiarity with BIM processes, ISO 19650 standards, and the application of a Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Experience within a multi-disciplinary team, with in awareness of cross-team workflows and their broader impact.
  • Comprehensive understanding of general CAD procedures, including drawing registers, revision control, customisation capabilities, and best practices relating to CAD libraries and tool palettes, as well as expertise in maps and geo-referencing.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) as you will need to discuss complex issues in a clear and concise manner to facilitate decision making for the best of the project.
