About British Cycling

British Cycling exists to bring the joy of cycling to everyone.

We have embarked on an exciting new journey, with a modernised commercial and events offering grounded in social impact and storytelling, harnessing the spotlight and inspiration of our athlete's performance on the world stage, and our growing portfolio of major events.

We are working towards our three key priorities outlined in our strategy; to support and grow the sport to make cycling more inclusive and accessible, to lead on the world stage by winning and winning well, and to drive social impact by tackling inequalities through providing opportunities.

What will you be doing?

This role sits within the Great Britain Cycling Team (GBCT), the country's most successful Olympic and Paralympic team in history. Now is an incredibly exciting year to join GBCT. Fresh off the back of winning 11 Olympic and 22 Paralympic medals at the most recent Games in Paris, as well as having recently celebrated 20 years of the GBCT pathway, we are a team with high ambitions to continue this legacy at LA 2028 and beyond.

The Sports Psychologist will provide world-class applied sport psychology expertise, services, and support to Olympic and Paralympic cyclists. This role involves working as part the Performance Support Team and within one of the four integrated interdisciplinary sub-teams, referred to as the Personal Performance Team. This team consists of performance psychologists, clinical psychologists and performance lifestyle practitioners to enhance athletes' mental performance, resilience, and overall well-being as well as continuing to embed the philosophy of 'happy head, fast legs' into the GBCT performance culture.

What we're looking for:

Please note, we will only be shortlisting applicants who are currently HCPC registered, so please ensure this is clear in the documentation you submit.

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Curious – You have a constant curiosity about how the rest of the world are developing their athletes and how to keep ahead of them. You constantly look for other ways and better ways of improving performance through the application of psychology. You have an appetite to learn from other sports, coaches and environments. You have a desire to invite fresh eyes and new perspectives and you welcome challenge and debate.
  • Passionate – You have a passion for psychology and the underpinning factors which influence behaviour change. You will be 'well-read' in key literature and research and will have ideas about application of research in real world settings.
  • Rapport builder – You foster positive engagement and strong, trusting relationships. You will be proactive and optimistically persistent in developing the strength of these relationships even with the most challenging of personalities. You don't give up.
  • Conscientious - You possess a high attention to detail and have a desire to ensure to ensure the standards of service delivery and the environment you operate in are world class. To this end you seek feedback on yourself and are forthcoming in providing constructive feedback to others.
  • Team player – You will naturally want to stand shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues and muck in when it is required.

  • Competitive Salary
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Generous Holidays (25 days + bank holidays)
